Urząd Morski w Szczecinie zorganizował w dniach 7-9 czerwca br. 29 międzynarodową Konferencję Porozumienia Bałtyckiego w sprawie przewozu materiałów niebezpiecznych statkami typu ro-ro.

W trzydniowej konferencji wzięło udział ok. 40 przedstawicieli administracji morskich państw nadbałtyckich: Danii, Szwecji, Estonii, Niemiec, Łotwy, Litwy, Finlandii, Polski oraz przedstawicieli linii żeglugowych operujących w rejonie Morza Bałtyckiego.

Konferencja Porozumienia Bałtyckiego zmieniła część zapisów Porozumienia dotyczących przewozu materiałów niebezpiecznych statkami typu ro-ro na Bałtyku. Wprowadzono między innymi zmiany w liście kontrolnej służącej do wspólnych inspekcji na statkach, które pozwolą na bezpieczniejszy przewóz tego typu materiałów drogą morską.

Jednym z ważniejszych dokumentów przyjętych przez uczestników spotkania jest Poradnik przeprowadzania wspólnych kontroli. Będzie on formalną podstawą do efektywnego przeprowadzania inspekcji na statkach przewożących niebezpieczne ładunki, a co za tym idzie – poprawi stopień ochrony Morza Bałtyckiego.

Kolejna, trzydziesta Konferencja Porozumienia Bałtyckiego odbędzie się w 2006. Chęć organizacji tego spotkania zadeklarowały Niemcy.

Maritime Office in Szczecin organized on 7 – 9 June 2005 the 29th International Conference on the Memorandum of Understanding for the Transport of Dangerous Goods in ro-ro Ships in the Baltic.

40 Delegates – representatives of the maritime administration and industry of Balic countries too part in the Conference. They represented the following countries: Denmark, Sweden, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland and Poland.

The MoU Conference changed some of the regulations of the Memorandum of Understanding for the Transport of Dangerous Goods in ro-ro Ships in the Baltic. Among those changes, there were revisions on the Checklist for inspections in accordance with the MoU on ro-ro ships. These corrections will enable more safe transport of dangerous goods on sea.

One of the most important documents approved by the Delegates was the Appendix of the MoU - Guidelines for joint checks according to section 9 (6) in the Memorandum of Understanding for the transport of dangerous goods in ro-ro ships in the Baltic Sea. This Guideline will set the legal framework for conducting effective inspections on ships carrying dangerous goods, thus improving the extent of the security in the Baltic.

The Conference in Szczecin was sponsored by Unity Line, EuroAfrica Shipping Lines and Polferries.

The 30th Conference will take place next year - in June 2006. The German Delegates have declared the willingness to prepare the meeting.
